A Resolution Authorizing TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF \n \n COLUMBUS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF ROAD IMPROVEMENTS TO MUTEC DRIVE AND THE \n \n INTERSECTION OF CARGO DRIVE AND TRANSPORT BOULEVARD whereas, the Development Authority of Columbus and the Columbus Consolidated Government \n \n have worked together to secure the expansion of Aflac in Columbus for the \n \n development of 2,000 new jobs; and,
whereas, to accommodate this growth, Mutec Drive in the East Columbus Industrial Park \n \n will require improvements to certain intersections; along with the intersection \n \n of Cargo Drive and Transport Boulevard; and,
WHEREAS, the Columbus Consolidated Government has received a county contract \n \n grant from the Georgia Department of Transportation in an amount not to exceed \n \n $2,500,000 for construction of such improvements.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a Memorandum \n \n of Understanding with the Development Authority of Columbus for the purpose of \n \n constructing intersection improvements along Mutec Drive, the intersection of \n \n Cargo Drive and Transport Boulevard, and for allocating an amount not to \n \n exceed $2,500,000 in county contract grant funds from the Georgia Department of \n \n Transportation. The City will be responsible for all engineering costs not to \n \n exceed $500,000.
