A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY TO APPLY FOR A GRANT AND IF AWARDED ACCEPTA A DONATION OF A \n \n DIFIBRILLATOR VALUED AT APPROXIMATELY $1255.00 GIVEN BY HOPEY?S HEART \n \n FOUNDATION. whereas, Sudden cardiac death caused by sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is a leading cause \n \n of death in the U.S. and can strike young people participating in athletic \n \n activities at schools, community centers, and recreation centers;
whereas, Placing AED?s in schools, community centers, and recreation centers may \n \n increase the chance of saving the lives of young athletes experiencing SCA in \n \n these environments; \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, The Hopey?s Heart Foundation is donating AED?s to selected schools, \n \n nonprofit community centers, and recreation centers who apply for such \n \n donation; \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, this donation will be of no cost to the City: \n \n

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to apply for a grant \n \n and if awarded accept a donation of a defibrillator valued at approximately \n \n $1255.00 given by Hopey?s Heart Foundation
