A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENT \n \n WITH THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO CONDUCT A TRANSPORTATION STUDY \n \n OF J.R. ALLEN PARKWAY / US 80 CORRIDOR. whereas, a study will be conducted to determine if an additional lane is needed in both \n \n directions and examine the interchanges to see if they warrant any \n \n improvements. J.R. Allen Parkway / US 80 is a major east - west corridor that \n \n averages 60,000 vehicle trips per day in some locations.
whereas, the Georgia Department of Transportation has authorized Federal / State \n \n Transportation Planning funding for the J.R. Allen Parkway / US 80 Corridor \n \n Study in the amount of $160,000.00, which requires a local match of twenty \n \n (20%) percent; and
WHEREAS, the local match of $40,000.00 will be funded from the OLOST \n \n Infrastructure Roads account.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contractual \n \n agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation to conduct a \n \n transportation study on the J.R. Allen Parkway / US 80 in the amount of \n \n $200,000.00 and will be funded through the use of Transportation Planning Funds \n \n ($160,000.00 - 80%), which requires a twenty percent (20%) match ($40,000.00). \n \n The 20% match has been identified in the OLOST Infrastructure Roads account.
