A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR, AND ACCEPT, AN EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL ASSISTANCE \n \n GRANT (JAG) FOR THE ACQUISTION OF ONE INTOXILYZER 9000. whereas, The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council announced a 2013 Law Enforcement \n \n Intoxilyzer Instrument Transition Program Solicitation through the Edward Byrne \n \n Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program who is a primary provider of \n \n federal criminal justice funding to state and local jurisdictions; and
whereas, The Sheriff's Office is eligible to receive a JAG grant not to exceed $9,000 \n \n for the purchase of one Intoxilyzer 9000 instrument during the award period of \n \n May 1, 2013 through August 31, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The Intoxilyzers maintained at the county jail provide breath alcohol \n \n testing results for several local law enforcement agencies thereby improving \n \n their ability to effectively test, in a controlled environment, subjects who \n \n are potentially under the influence of alcohol.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manger is hereby authorized to apply for, and accept, a maximum \n \n JAG grant of $9,000.00 for the Sheriff's Office to purchase one Intoxilyzer \n \n 9000 instrument.
