A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A STREET LIGHT MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT WITH THE \n \n GEORGIA POWER COMPANY FOR THE PURPOSE OF TAKING OVER MAINTENANCE OF CERTAIN \n \n STREET LIGHTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $36,007.00. whereas, there exists some 286 street lights located in downtown Columbus and on roadway \n \n bridges where both the City and Georgia Power share street light maintenance \n \n duties; and,
whereas, the City desires to transfer street light maintenance duties entirely to local \n \n utility companies for which these street lights are within the Georgia Power \n \n service area; and,
WHEREAS, having a single entity perform street light maintenance will improve \n \n repair time and reduce outage rates.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a street light \n \n maintenance agreement with The Georgia Power Company for the purpose of taking \n \n over maintenance of certain street lights in the amount of $36,007.00.
