A Resolution Authorizing FINANCE DIRECTOR TO ACCEPT MONETARY DONATIONS OF $10,000 OR MORE, AND THE USE \n \n OF EQUIPMENT FROM LOCAL AND STATE VENDORS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS GOVERNMENT, \n \n FOR THE PURPOSE OF HOSTING THE FIRST ANNUAL PUBLIC WORKS EQUIPMENT ROADEO IN \n \n COLUMBUS GEORGIA. whereas, Public Works Department continues to demonstrate its commitment toward \n \n longstanding obligation to enhancing employees? morale and duty performance \n \n through innovative leadership; and,
whereas, it is envisioned that the support from our leaders will thrust employees? \n \n morale and performance to the next level, and improve job efficiency and \n \n safety; and, \n \n
WHEREAS, Public Works Equipment Roadeo affords the equipment operator \n \n the opportunity to display their talents in a competitive setting as a \n \n contestant; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, he or she will be competing with motorized equipment \n \n professionals from other divisions with the opportunity to compete against \n \n other municipalities or political entities; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the focus of the competition is on safe, fundamental driving \n \n and skillful operation of specialized heavy/light equipment; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the Roadeo events are tied directly to standard job \n \n requirements; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the desired outcome of the roadeo is to recognize operators of \n \n heavy/light equipment and to promote professional fellowship through good \n \n natured competition and cultivate team work; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, this will enhance driving and operation skills associated with \n \n various types of equipment, and to emphasize safe operation of the equipment; \n \n and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the competition will become an annual event with winners \n \n competing against local, state and national competitors; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, it is anticipated that CCG leadership would embrace this event \n \n and approve the resolution authorizing the acceptance of donations for hosting \n \n the first Public Works Equipment Roadeo Event.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That Finance Director hereby is authorized to accept donations of $10,000 or \n \n more in support of the Annual Public Works Equipment Roadeo; and establish an \n \n account to expend monies to cover said event and expenses not to exceed the \n \n donated amount; the City Manager is further authorized to approve the venue \n \n location, and participants from outside city government that are needed for \n \n this event; and, any donation in excess of the cost of the Public Works \n \n Equipment Roadeo will be retained in the account to be used for similar events \n \n sponsored by Public Works in future years.
