A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT A $198,875 \n \n NON-MATCHING GRANT FROM THE GEORGIA EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY AS PART OF THE \n \n FEDERAL FISCAL YEAR 2006 LAW ENFORCEMENT TERRORISM PREVENTION PROGRAM, TO \n \n PURCHASE THE EQUIPMENT AND TRAINING FUNDED BY THE GRANT THROUGH GEMA, AND TO \n \n AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY LIKE AMOUNT. whereas, the Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention grant will be utilized for \n \n communications, personal protection, and detection equipment as well as \n \n training, which will be purchased and arranged through GEMA, either directly \n \n from GEMA or from vendors supplied under state contract by GEMA; and,
whereas, this Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program grant is needed for the \n \n prevention, deterrence, detection, and response to possible terrorism events or \n \n hazardous materials events within the city of Columbus as well as the \n \n surrounding area.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized to accept \n \n the Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention Program grant in the amount of \n \n $195,875 and purchase the equipment, materials, and training through GEMA, and \n \n to amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by like amount.
