A Resolution Authorizing THE SUPPORT AND RECOMMENDATION FOR THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO \n \n REDUCE THE NUMBER OF LANES ALONG SR 22/13TH STREET CORRIDOR FROM SEVEN (7) \n \n LANES TO FIVE (5) BETWEEN 5TH AVENUE AND 13TH AVENUE AND FROM FIVE (5) LANES TO \n \n THREE (3) BETWEEN 10TH AVENUE AND 13TH AVENUE. whereas, the Georgia Department of Transportation has a resurfacing/restriping project \n \n planned that includes the 13th Street Corridor,
whereas, the City of Columbus has a desire to support economic development by connecting \n \n communities in making streets more accessible to walk, bike, utilize transit or \n \n drive,
WHEREAS, reducing the lanes provides opportunities to revitalize the \n \n businesses and make critical services more accessible for pedestrians transit \n \n riders,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
This Resolution is approved in support of the proposed resurfacing and \n \n re-striping project to include reduction of lanes along SR 22/13th Street \n \n Corridor as outlined herein. A copy of the resolution will be sent to Georgia \n \n Department of Transportation.
