A Resolution Authorizing TO ACCEPT FUNDING FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FY 2006 AND \n \n 2007 TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT FUNDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE CHATTAHOOCHEE \n \n RIVERWALK FROM 13TH STREET TO 14TH STREET PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE whereas, the Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded the Columbus Consolidated \n \n Government, a Transportation Enhancement grant (P.I. No. 0008184, Project No. \n \n TEE-0008-00(184), for $800,000; and,
whereas, the grant shall be used to construct a vital link to the Chattahoochee \n \n Riverwalk from 13th Street to the 14th Street Pedestrian Bridge; and,
WHEREAS, the grant requires a 20 percent match, which shall be funded in the \n \n amount not to exceed $160,000 from city SPLOST and bond funds; and, \n \n WHEREAS, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Georgia Department of \n \n Transportation and the Columbus Consolidated Government must be agreed to prior \n \n to use of such funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a Memorandum of \n \n Understanding with the Georgia Department of Transportation to accept FY 2006 \n \n and 2007 Transportation Enhancement funds for the construction of the \n \n Chattahoochee Riverwalk from 13th Street to 14th Street Pedestrian Bridge, in \n \n the amount of $800,000, with a 20 percent match not to exceed $160,000.
