A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH GEORGIA \n \n DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR RAILROAD CROSSING WARNING DEVICES UPGRADES AT \n \n CROSSING ON 3RD AVENUE BETWEEN 16TH STREET AND 17TH STREET. whereas, THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (GDOT) AND NORFOLK SOUTHERN CORP. HAVE \n \n PARTNERED TO UPGRADE THE CROSSING ON 3RD AVENUE WITH NEW WARNING DEVICES TO \n \n IMPROVE SAFETY OF THE CROSSING,
whereas, GDOT HAS REQUESTED THE CITY PARTICIPATE IN THE PROJECT WITH SOME MINOR \n \n CONSTRUCTION NEEDS,
WHEREAS, GDOT AND THE CITY AGREE THAT IT IS IN MUTUAL INTEREST TO PARTICIPATE \n \n IN THE PROJECT,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a Memorandum of \n \n Understanding with the Georgia Department of Transportation for railroad \n \n crossing warning devices upgrades on the railroad crossing on 3rd Avenue \n \n between 16th Street and 17th Street,
