A Resolution Authorizing SUBMITTAL OF THE APPLICATION FOR 2013 CHOICE NEIGHBORHOODS PLANNING GRANT TO \n \n THE US DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY \n \n MANAGER TO EXECUTE A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF \n \n COLUMBUS, GEORGIA TO BE A CO-APPLIANT. whereas, the US Department of Housing and Urban Development has issued a Notice of \n \n Funding Availability for the 2013 Choice Neighborhoods Planning Grant; and,
whereas, the City of Columbus and the Housing Authority of Columbus are both eligible \n \n applicants; and, \n \n WHEREAS, City Village has been identified as an eligible Target Neighborhood \n \n with Chase Homes as the eligible distressed public housing development and Fox \n \n Elementary and Jordan High School as the distressed public schools that serve \n \n this neighborhood; and, \n \n WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of Columbus has agreed to be a co-applicant in \n \n the process; and, \n \n WHEREAS, the grant requires a Transformation Plan to be developed which will \n \n greatly benefit the residents of this neighborhood and the entire City.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
Ctiy Staff is authorized to apply for the 2013 Choice Neighborhoods Planning \n \n Grant and the City Manager is authorized to execute all relevant documents and \n \n enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Housing Authority of Columbus to \n \n be a Co-applicant in the process.
