A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH EVIDENCE \n \n BASED ASSOCIATES, LLC AND SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE \n \n COORDINATING COUNCIL FOR THE JUVENILE JUSTICE DELINQUENCY PREVENTION AND \n \n TREATMENT PROGRAMS GRANT TO FUND THE MUSCOGEE COUNTY JUVENILE COURT AND IF \n \n AWARDED, ACCEPT THE GRANT, AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY THE AMOUNT OF \n \n THE GRANT AWARD AND ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH EVIDENCE BASED ASSOCIATES, LLC. \n \n THERE IS NO LOCAL MATCH REQUIREMENT AND THE GRANT PERIOD IS FROM DECEMBER 1, \n \n 2014 TO AUGUST 30, 2015. whereas, funds in the amount of up to $100,000 have been made available from the \n \n Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the Juvenile Court from December 1, \n \n 2014 to August 30, 2015; and,
whereas, the funds are being made available to provide increased accountability of \n \n juvenile offenders by providing evidence based prevention and treatment models \n \n for at risk youth in the initial stages of justice system involvement; and,
WHEREAS, the City currently has a contract with Evidence Based Associates, LLC \n \n for the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council Juvenile Justice Incentive Grant; \n \n and, \n \n WHEREAS, Juvenile Court wishes to utilize Evidenced Based Associates, LLC to \n \n assist with the grant writing and respond to the request for proposal issued by \n \n the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council; and, \n \n WHEREAS, Evidence Based Associates is working with the Georgia Criminal Justice \n \n Coordinating Council, the Governor's Office for Children and Families and the \n \n gubernatorial appointed Juvenile Justice Incentive Grant Program Funding \n \n Committee to identify and manage cost-effective methods to offer program that \n \n are proven to reduce recidivism.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into the attached \n \n Memorandom of Understanding with Evidenced Based Associates, LLC, to submit an \n \n application for the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention and Treatment Grant \n \n from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council to fund the Muscogee County \n \n Juvenile Court, and if awarded, accept a grant for the period of December 1, \n \n 2014 to August 30, 2015 for up to $100,000 with no local match requirement and \n \n to amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of the grant award. Upon \n \n award, the City Manager is authorized to enter into a contract with Evidence \n \n Based Associates, LLC for managing entity services
