A Resolution Authorizing AMMENDMENT OF RESOLUTION 92-14, COMPLETE STREETS POLICY, TO STRENGTHEN THE \n \n POLICY AND ENCOURAGE WALKING, BICYCLING, TRANSIT, AND PROMOTING SAFE OPERATIONS \n \n FOR ALL USERS____________ whereas, the existing Complete Streets policy is too broadly defined and does not \n \n address specific design and aesthetic elements and does not clarify when and \n \n how Complete Streets should be implemented, and,_______________
whereas, an amended Complete Streets policy should include specific engineering design \n \n guidelines for the application of bike, pedestrian, and transit facilities; \n \n including acknowledging the role that aesthetic design can have for encouraging \n \n safe and welcoming streets, and,___________
WHEREAS, an amended Complete Streets policy should create a committee to \n \n publicly address and make transparent the process of how roadways are selected \n \n for Complete Streets implementation and this committee shall abide by \n \n objective, quantifiable, criterion when evaluating a corridor for the \n \n feasibility of a complete streets application, and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, this committee shall release an annual update on the state of \n \n complete streets project implementation and other metrics that are crucial to \n \n monitoring and allowing stakeholders to have the data and information \n \n available to for public discourse, and,____________
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the Council of the Consolidated Government of Columbus hereby amends \n \n resolution 92-14, also known as the Complete Street Policy, to include these \n \n changes in policy: \n \n 1. Address specific design and aesthetic elements. \n \n 2. Specific engineering design guidelines for the application of bike, \n \n pedestrian, and transit facilities; including acknowledging the role that \n \n aesthetic design can have for encouraging safe and welcoming streets. \n \n 3. Create a committee to publicly address and make transparent the process of \n \n how roadways are selected for Complete Streets implementation and this \n \n committee shall abide by objective, quantifiable, criterion when evaluating a \n \n corridor for the feasibility of a complete streets application. \n \n 4. Release an annual update on the state of complete streets project \n \n implementation and other metrics that are crucial to monitoring and allowing \n \n stakeholders to have reliable data available to them.
