A Resolution Authorizing THE BAKER VILLAGE REVITALIZATION PLAN AND ENDORSING THE APPLICATION BY THE \n \n HOUSING AUTHORITY OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA/COLUMBIA RESIDENTIAL PARTNERSHIP TO THE \n \n GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS FOR LOW-INCOME HOUSING TAX CREDITS TO \n \n CONSTRUCT BAKER VILLAGE APARTMENTS PHASE 1 ? A MULTI-FAMILY COMMUNITY TO BE \n \n LOCATED AT 1440 BENNING DRIVE, COLUMBUS, GEORGIA; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. whereas, the Housing Authority of Columbus, Georgia (HACG) has prepared a Revitalization \n \n Plan for Newton D. Baker Village, 1440 Benning Drive, Columbus, Georgia of \n \n which a copy is attached as Exhibit A; and,
whereas, said Plan has been presented to the residents, stakeholders and the community \n \n at large; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the adoption of this Plan will be the catalytic force behind \n \n the transformation of Columbus South; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, HACG with their developer partner, Columbia Residential, is \n \n applying to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) for low-income \n \n housing tax credits to construct Baker Village Apartments, Phase 1, 1440 \n \n Benning Drive, Columbus, Georgia; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, a summary of said application is attached hereto as Exhibit B; \n \n and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the site of the proposed community is located within Census \n \n Tract 32.00; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, DCA has established regulations whereby low-income housing tax \n \n credit applications, to be competitive, must be formally endorsed by the \n \n governing authority of the pertinent municipality or county; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the Columbus Council wishes to adopt the Baker Village \n \n Revitalization Plan and endorse the aforementioned application by HACG and \n \n Columbia Residential.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the Baker Village Revitalization Plan is hereby adopted as the \n \n official revitalization plan for this development and endorse the application \n \n by the Housing Authority of Columbus, Georgia and their development partner, \n \n Columbia Residential, to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs for \n \n low-income tax credits to construct the proposed Baker Village Apartments ? \n \n Phase 1. The Baker Village Revitalization Plan with its funding sources, \n \n target area, housing policy goals, and implementation measures will serve as \n \n the Redevelopment Plan for this project.
