A Resolution Authorizing APPROVAL TO ACCEPT $145,000.00 AND ANY ADDITIONAL FUNDING AWARDED IN FISCAL \n \n YEARS 2015 AND 2016 FROM THE UNITED STATES ARMY CYS STRONG (ASPYN) PROGRAM AND \n \n AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY THE AWARD OF THE GRANT; IN THE AMOUNT OF \n \n NEW SPACES $1,000.00 PER CHILD CARE SPACE AND $1,000.00 FOR SUSTAINED CHILD \n \n CARE SPACES AT A MAXIMUM TOTAL OF 145 CHILD CARE SPACES. THIS GRANT WILL ALLOW \n \n COLUMBUS PARKS AND RECREATION COMMUNITY SCHOOLS DIVISION TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT, \n \n TRAINING, ADMINISTRATEIVE EXPENSES AND DIRECT PROGRAM STAFF FOR BEFORE AND \n \n AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS AT THE ACCREDITED SITES AND THOSE SITES WITH MILITARY \n \n CHILDREN ENROLLED. whereas, , the Before and After School/Summer Program administered by the Columbus Parks \n \n and Recreation Department offers activities to youth; and,
whereas, the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department Community Schools Division \n \n administers the After School Program in 22 locations throughout the city during \n \n the school year; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the need for wholesome recreational, educational, and enrichment \n \n activities are offered to participants with nutritional components included \n \n with snacks at no significant cost to the city; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the City is not required to add any matching fund to participate in \n \n the program. \n \n

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept $145,000 from the United \n \n States Army CYS Strong Program and any additional funds awarded for fiscal \n \n years 2015 and 2016 for programs at the accredited sites and any other sites \n \n with military children enrolled in the CSD program of the Columbus Parks and \n \n Recreation Department. The Program is funded by a grant in the amount of \n \n $1,000.00 for any sustained spaces up to a total of 145 school age childcare \n \n spaces. That the Multi Governmental Fund is amended by the amount of the grant \n \n allowing authorization to spend funds as needed.
