A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF \n \n TRANSPORTATION (GDOT) FOR INSTALLATION OF A SIGNAL AND OTHER IMPROVEMENTS TO \n \n PROVIDE PROPER ACCOMMODATIONS FOR PEDESTRIAN CROSSINGS AND IMPROVE VEHICULAR \n \n LEFT TURN MOVEMENTS AT THE INTERSECTION OF MACON ROAD (SR22 SPUR) AND CITIZENS \n \n WAY. whereas, there have been several public facilities developed over the last ten years in \n \n the vicinity of this intersection thus increasing the pedestrian and vehicular \n \n movements,
whereas, GDOT performed a traffic study to evaluate the intersection for pedestrian \n \n accommodations and improve access for left turning vehicles onto Citizens Way,
WHEREAS, the report from the study recommends a stop and go signal be \n \n installed at the intersection along with crosswalks and refuge islands.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit and application to \n \n the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for installation of a signal \n \n and other improvements to provide proper accommodations for pedestrians and \n \n improve left turn movements at the intersection of Macon Road (SR22 Spur) and \n \n Citizens Way at no cost to the City for construction.
