A Resolution Authorizing A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND, IF APPORVED, ACCEPT UP \n \n TO $140,000 IN GRANT FUNDS FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF EARLY CHILDCARE AND \n \n LEARNING PROGRAM BRIGHT FROM THE START FOR THE USDA CHILD AND ADULT CARE FOOD \n \n PROGRAM, WHICH WILL BE A PART OF OUR AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM THROUGHOUT THE YEAR \n \n AND ALSO AUTHORIZING THE MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT SCHOOL NUTRITION \n \n DEPARTMENT TO ACT AS THE SOLE VENDOR FOR THE PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR 2012/2013 whereas, the Before and After School Program administered by the Columbus Parks and \n \n Recreation Department offers activities to youth; and,
whereas, the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department Community Schools Division \n \n administers the After School Program in 25 locations throughout the city during \n \n the school year, and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the need for wholesome recreational, educational, and enrichment \n \n activities are offered to participants with nutritional components included \n \n with meals; and \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, we are requesting to continue contracting with Muscogee County School \n \n District School Nutrition Department to ensure compliance with state and \n \n federal guidelines, policies, and procedures on nutrition and proper portion \n \n sizes; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the need for nutritional after school snacks, intercession, and camp \n \n meals are vital to the health and stability of all youth. \n \n
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit and application and if \n \n approved accept a grant in the amount of $140,000 or the amount awarded for \n \n snacks provided for the Child and Adult Care Food Program from the Georgia \n \n Department of Early Childcare and Learning Bright From the Start and amend the \n \n Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of the grant. These grants will cross \n \n over the City?s fiscal year 2012 and 2013; and, \n \n \n \n II. \n \n \n \n Authorize a sole source contract with the Muscogee County School Nutrition \n \n Program for preparing meals in compliance with state and federal guidelines. \n \n
