A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A PROJECT FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT WITH THE GEORGIA \n \n DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FUNDING FOR HIGH PRIORITY PROJECTS whereas, the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy \n \n for Users (SAFETEA-LU) was enacted August 10, 2005, by Congress, which includes \n \n projects that are identified as "High Priority Projects.";and,
whereas, the local Congressional delegation sponsored and received funding for the \n \n following projects for Columbus: Streetscapes in Columbus Phase III (Riverwalk) \n \n CSSTP-0007-00 (559) - $1 million; Trolley Trail and Bike Path CSSTP-0007-00 \n \n (563) - $500,000; and the South Lumpkin Road Trail CSSTP-0007-00 (559) - \n \n $500,000; and, \n \n WHEREAS, the each grant project requires a 20 percent match, which shall be \n \n funded in the amount not to exceed $200,000 for the Streetscapes in Columbus \n \n Phase III (Riverwalk) CSSTP-0007-00 (559); $100,000 for the Trolley Trail and \n \n Bike Path CSSTP-0007-00 (563); and $100,000 for the South Lumpkin Road Trail \n \n CSSTP-0007-00, from city SPLOST; and,
WHEREAS, the funds are administered by the Georgia Department of Transportation \n \n and require that the City enter into a Project Framework Agreement for \n \n Preliminary Engineering Activities, which outlines how these funds maybe used.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a Project Framework \n \n Agreement for Preliminary Engineering Activities with the Georgia Department of \n \n Transportation to "High Priority Project" funds for the following projects: \n \n Streetscapes in Columbus Phase III (Riverwalk) CSSTP-0007-00 (559) - $1 \n \n million; Trolley Trail and Bike Path CSSTP-0007-00 (563) - $500,000; and the \n \n South Lumpkin Road Trail CSSTP-0007-00 (559) - $500,000;construction of the \n \n Chattahoochee Riverwalk from 13th Street to 14th Street Pedestrian Bridge, in \n \n the amount of $800,000, with a 20 percent match not to exceed $200,000 for the \n \n Streetscapes in Columbus Phase III (Riverwalk) CSSTP-0007-00 (559); $100,000 \n \n for the Trolley Trail and Bike Path CSSTP-0007-00 (563); and $100,000 for the \n \n South Lumpkin Road Trail CSSTP-0007-00.
