A Resolution Authorizing A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND, \n \n IF APPROVED, ACCEPT UP TO $67,989.60 IN GRANT FUNDS FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT \n \n OF EARLY CHILDCARE AND LEARINING PROGRAM BRIGHT FROM THE START FOR THE USDA \n \n CHILD AND ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM, WHICH WILL BE A PART OF OUR AFTERSCHOOL \n \n PROGRAM THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, AND TO AMEND THE MULTIGOVERNMENTAL FUND BY THE \n \n AMOUNT OF THE AWARD, AND ALSO AUTHORIZING THE MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT \n \n SCHOOL NUTRITION DEPARTMENT TO ACT AS THE SOLE VENDOR FOR THE PROGRAM FOR \n \n FISCAL YEAR 2019/2020. \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the Before and After School Program administered by the Columbus Parks \n \n and Recreation Department offers activities to youth; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department Community Schools \n \n Division administers the After School Program in 22 locations throughout the \n \n city during the school year; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the need for wholesome recreational, educational, and enrichment \n \n activities are offered to participants with nutritional components included \n \n with meals; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, we are requesting to continue contracting with Muscogee County School \n \n District School Nutrition Department to ensure compliance with state and \n \n federal guidelines, policies, and procedures on nutrition and proper portion \n \n sizes; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the need for nutritional after school snacks, intercession, and camp \n \n meals are vital to the health and stability of all youth; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the Division Manager for the Community Schools Division of Columbus \n \n Parks and Recreation, shall serve as the Principal Contact of the Child and \n \n Adult Care Food Program. whereas,

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application and if \n \n approved accept a grant in the amount of $67,989.60 or the amount awarded for \n \n snacks provided for the Child and Adult Care Food Program from the Georgia \n \n Department of Early Childcare and Learning Bright From the Start and amend the \n \n Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of the grant. These grants will cross \n \n over the City's fiscal year 2019 and 2020; and, \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
