A Resolution Authorizing _THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION, ON BEHALF OF THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY \n \n AND, IF APPROVED, TO ACCEPT A VOCA GRANT OF $349,897 OR AS OTHERWISE AWARDED \n \n FROM THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE COORDINATING COUNCIL OF GEORGIA ALONG WITH $68,874 \n \n FROM THE 5% CRIME VICTIM ASSISTANCE SURCHARGE FUND ALLOCATED IN THE FY18 \n \n BUDGET, TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR CRIME VICTIM ASSISTANCE IN THE CHATTAHOOCHEE \n \n JUDICIAL CIRCUIT FROM OCTOBER 1, 2017 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2018, AND, ALONG \n \n WITH THE $18,600 IN-KIND MATCH, AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY LIKE \n \n AMOUNT.___________ whereas, the District Attorney is requesting the acceptance of a VOCA Grant in the \n \n amount of $349,897 or as otherwise awarded to be allocated over a twelve-month \n \n period from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council of Georgia to support \n \n innocent victims of violent crime under the 1996 Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), \n \n along with $68,874 from the 5% Crime Victim Assistance Surcharge Fund allocated \n \n in the FY18 Budget for salaries and full benefits; and, _______________
whereas, the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council of Georgia requires a minimum 20% of \n \n the grant come in the form of a match and 25% of that be an In-Kind Match to be \n \n met through the use of volunteers. Figures are based on a twelve-month period; \n \n and___________
the funding will be used to adequately provide services to newly identified \n \n areas such as serving seven (7) Superior Court Judges, victims of non-arrest \n \n cases, victims within Rapid Resolution Program, victims identified in Juvenile \n \n Court, and all other crime victims in need of services; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, The District Attorney will continue to supervise the operation of the \n \n Victim-Witness Assistance Program in the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit from \n \n October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018. ____________
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit and if approved, accept a \n \n grant of $349,897 or as otherwise awarded from the Criminal Justice \n \n Coordinating Council of Georgia along with $68,874 of the 5% Crime Victim \n \n Surcharge Funds allocated in the FY18 Budget to fund the Victim-Witness \n \n Assistance Program which will extend over a twelve-month period beginning \n \n October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018. \n \n ______________
