A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY TO APPROVE AND ACCEPT THE DONATION OF TWO EXERCISE BIKES TO BE \n \n PURCHASED BY MEMBERS OF GALLOPS SENIOR CENTER TO BE USED IN THE CENTER?S WEIGHT \n \n ROOM. whereas, The members of Gallops Senior Center request to spend $400.00 to purchase two \n \n Exercise Bikes to be placed in the center?s weight room for all participants to \n \n use, \n \n
whereas, A healthier heart, stronger bones, improved appearance and flexibility are just \n \n some of the benefits of exercising, especially for seniors, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, Seniors have even more to gain than younger people by becoming \n \n more active because they are at higher risk for the health problems that \n \n physical activity can prevent. \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, Exercise is beneficial in preventing dementia and Alzheimer?s \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, Exercise may delay or prevent many diseases associated with \n \n aging, such as diabetes, colon cancer, heart disease, stroke, and others, and \n \n may reduce overall death and hospitalization rates, according to the National \n \n Institute of Aging. \n \n
That the City Manager or his designee is hereby authorized to accept two \n \n Exercise Bikes purchased by members of Gallops Senior Center to place in the \n \n center?s weight room for all participants to use. \n \n
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
