A Resolution Authorizing A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND, IF APPROVED, ACCEPT UP \n \n TO $8,704.00 IN FUNDS FROM MAXIMUS, INC. FOR GEORGIA?S CHILDCARE AND PARENT \n \n SERVICES (CAPS) PROGRAM OF BRIGHT FROM THE START PROGRAM, WHICH WILL BE A PART \n \n OF OUR AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, AND TO AMEND THE \n \n MULTIGOVERNMENTAL FUND BY THE AMOUNT OF THE AWARD, AND enter into contract with \n \n MAXIMUS, Inc. for the management and delivery of funds issued from the \n \n Department of Early Care and Learning FOR THE PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR \n \n 2019/2020. \n \n \n \n whereas, the Before and After School Program administered by the Columbus Parks and \n \n Recreation Department offers activities to youth; and, \n \n
whereas, the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department Community Schools Division \n \n administers the After School Program in 22 locations throughout the city during \n \n the school year; and, \n \n
WHEREAS, the need for high quality, affordable and wholesome recreational, \n \n educational, and enrichment activities are offered to participants after school \n \n hours; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, Bright from the Start distributes federal funding to enhance the \n \n quality and availability of child care through Georgia?s Childcare and Parent \n \n Services Program (CAPS), which supports early education goals by assisting \n \n families who are considered low-income with the cost of child care and works \n \n collaboratively with Columbus Parks & Recreations Community Schools Division to \n \n enhance early care and education; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, MAXIMUS, Inc. is a health and human services organization and is \n \n responsible for the management and issuance of payments to Children and Parent \n \n Services (CAPS) providers. These services include orientation, document \n \n management, invoice processing, attendance recording, and training; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the Division Manager for the Community Schools Division of Columbus \n \n Parks and Recreation, Pamela Lee shall serve as the Principal Contact for \n \n Georgia?s Childcare and Parent Services Program (CAPS). \n \n
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application and if \n \n approved accept funding in the amount of $8,704.00 or the amount awarded for \n \n tuition assistance from MAXIMUS, Inc. through Georgia?s Childcare and Parent \n \n Services Program (CAPS) of Georgia Department of Early Childcare and Learning \n \n Bright From the Start and amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of \n \n the award. These awarded funds will cross over the City's fiscal year 2019 and \n \n 2020; and,
