A Resolution Authorizing _THE CHANGING OF THE OFFICIAL STREET MAP AND TAX MAPS OF THE CONSOLIDATED \n \n GOVERNMENT OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA BY OFFICIALLY CLOSING AND ABANDONING A SEGMENT \n \n OF 15TH AVENUE RIGHT OF WAY BEGINNING AT THE NORTH RIGHT OF WAY LINE OF 55TH \n \n STREET AND 15TH AVENUE RUNNING IN A NORTHERLY DIRECTION FOR A DISTANCE OF \n \n APPROXIMATELY 150 FT.; AUTHORIZING THE DISPOSAL OF THE SAID RIGHT OF WAY IN \n \n ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE STATE LAW; RESERVING UTILITY EASEMENTS; AND FOR \n \n OTHER PURPOSES. whereas, a remnant unimproved portion of 15th Avenue lies within the area of the Bon \n \n Air Subdivision off 55th Street; and,
whereas, the Department of Community Reinvestment was contacted by Old Gregg LLC \n \n expressing a desire to acquire the property for development purposes; and,
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering has determined the Street Segment is not \n \n critical to traffic flow in the area.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I. \n \n The "Official Street Map , Consolidated Government of Columbus, Georgia" \n \n maintained in accordance with Section 18.1 of the Columbus Code and appropriate \n \n Tax Map are hereby amended by deleting the following property from said maps: \n \n "All of that tract or parcel of land lying in and being part of Land \n \n Lot 55, 8th District, Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia, known as that part of \n \n 15th Avenue lying north of 55th Street, being more particularly described as \n \n follows: BEGIN at a rebar & cap marking the intersection of the northerly line \n \n of 55TH Street and the easterly line of 15th Avenue; thence South 89 degrees 02 \n \n minutes 00 seconds West, along the northerly line of 55th Street, 60.0 feet to \n \n a rebar; thence leaving the northerly line of 55th Street, North 00 degrees 42 \n \n minutes 17 seconds West, 150.0 feet to a pinched top iron; thence North 89 \n \n degrees 02 minutes 00 seconds East, 60.0 feet to a pinched top iron; thence \n \n South 00 degrees 42 minutes 17 seconds East, 150.0 feet to a rebar & cap on the \n \n northerly line of 15th Street and the POINT OF BEGINNING; \n \n Together with and subject to covenants, easements, and restrictions of record. \n \n Said tract or parcel containing 0.210 acres, more or less." \n \n A copy of the survey drawing entitled "Part of 15th Avenue Right-Of-Way " \n \n showing the above-described property is attached to this Resolution as Exhibit \n \n "A". \n \n SECTION II. \n \n That the Council finds that the segment of right of way described in Section I. \n \n above no longer serves a substantial public purpose. This abandonment is hereby \n \n declared to be in the best public interest. Accordingly, said segment is \n \n hereby declared abandoned and removed from the Official Street Map of Columbus, \n \n Georgia in accordance with O.C.G.A. Section 32-7-2(c) . The City Manager is \n \n authorized to transfer the property to the adjacent property owner in \n \n accordance with the provisions of O.C.G.A. Section 32-7-4 if determined its \n \n necessary and in the best interest of the Consolidated Government of Columbus, \n \n Georgia. \n \n SECTION III. \n \n All existing utility easements in the Street Segment shall be \n \n reserved.______________
