A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN SUPPLEMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE GEORGIA \n \n DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND TO AMEND THE CONTRACT FOR THE 14TH STREET \n \n PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE (P.I. 0009401), WITH SCOTT BRIDGE INC. whereas, Resolution 35-11 authorized the City Manager to enter into an agreement with \n \n the Georgia Department of Transportation with the initial cost of $5,250,445.00 \n \n for construction utilizing American Recovery and Redevelopment Act Funds and \n \n L230 funds; and
whereas, the Georgia Department of Transportation has authorized a Supplemental \n \n Agreement and change orders to provide additional state funds in the amount of \n \n $777,112.00 to complete this project, with a required local match of \n \n $194,278.00 or twenty percent for a total of $971,390.00, making the grand \n \n total for this project $5,647,745.20; and, \n \n WHEREAS, Resolution 411-10 authorized the City Manager to enter into an \n \n agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation in the amount of \n \n $4,175,000.00 for construction on the 14th Street Pedestrian Bridge - Phase II \n \n (Plaza - P.I. 10101), but the city self imposed a limitation to spend only the \n \n estimated cost of $1,900,000. The amount of $971,390.00 under the \n \n Supplemental Agreement and change orders will be subtracted from the authorized \n \n amount of $1,900,000 and will be placed on Project Number 0009401 - 14th Street \n \n Pedestrian Bridge; and, \n \n WHEREAS, Scott Bridge is the construction contractor for the 14th Street \n \n Pedestrian Bridge; and, \n \n WHEREAS, In order to expedite the construction of the approach to the bridge, \n \n GDOT has authorized a change order that authorize Scott Bridge to construct the \n \n approach project for an amount not to exceed $971,390.00

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an supplemental \n \n agreement and change orders to amend the contract with the Georgia Department \n \n of Transportation for the 14th Street Pedestrian Bridge in the amount of \n \n $777,112.00 with a required local match of $194,278.00, or twenty percent for a \n \n total of $971,390.00, making a grand total of $5,647,745.20 for this project as \n \n established by the Council.
