A Resolution Authorizing COLUMBUS YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION AT ITS OWN EXPENSE TO CONSTRUCT AND/OR EXPAND \n \n THE CURRENT FIELDS AT WOODRUFF FARM SOCCER COMPLEX AS FOLLOWS: EXPAND FIELD #6 \n \n FROM ONE FIELD TO 3, POSSIBLY 4 DEPENDING ON COST OF MITIGATING THE WETLANDS \n \n ISSUES, ADD FOUR FIELDS TO THE BOTTOM FIELDS AND CONCESSION/RESTROOM BUILDING. whereas, there are 1465 Recreation Players, 186 Select Players, 125 Academy Players, 450 \n \n Adult Players at Woodruff Farm Soccer Complex and more growth is expected due \n \n to BRAC; and,
whereas, there are major tournaments held at this facility each year and this facility \n \n is also shared with the Muscogee County School District so space is limited for \n \n programming needs; and, \n \n WHEREAS, in order to place a bid for the 2009 Regionals, Columbus Youth Soccer \n \n Association must have 16 fields in one location. CYSA has examined other \n \n options, all of which would involve constructing fields off-site. This would \n \n not meet the criteria for the Regionals, and mean added expenses.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to the grant approval for to \n \n Columbus Youth Soccer Association to construct and/or expand the current \n \n fields, at its own expense, at Woodruff Farm Soccer Complex as follows: Expand \n \n Field #6 from one field to 3, possibly 4 depending on cost of mitigating with \n \n wetlands issues, add four fields to the bottom fields and add \n \n concession/restroom building. All maintenance and utility costs associated \n \n with the additional fields will be the responsibility of the City of Columbus.
