A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH CUSSETA \n \n ROAD LLC DEVELOPMENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW ROADWAY TO \n \n SERVICE AN AREA BETWEEN ST. MARY'S ROAD AND OLD CUSSETA ROAD. whereas, due to the recent increase of residential development at the eastern end of St. \n \n Mary?s Road, the City is seeking ways to provide an outlet to other roadways in \n \n the area; and
whereas, St. Mary?s Road is now closed at the eastern entrance to Ft. Benning, leaving \n \n many citizens in this area with only one way in and one way out to other parts \n \n of the community; and,
WHEREAS, Cusseta Road LLC has proposed two separate developments, Lexington \n \n Heights Subdivision just south of the existing Bunker Hill subdivision off St. \n \n Mary?s Road, and development opportunities along Old Cusseta Road. \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, while the proposed developments are detached projects, separated by a \n \n wetlands area, that do not require a connecting roadway, the developer has \n \n proposed to construct a two lane roadway in joint partnership with the City to \n \n help alleviate the potential traffic problems in this area; and, \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, a Memorandum of Understanding has been prepared to define the City's \n \n contribution towards this project and the developer's responsibility in this \n \n project,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a Memorandum of \n \n Understanding with Cusseta Road LLC for the purpose of participating in the \n \n construction of a new roadway between Lexington Heights Subdivision and Old \n \n Cusseta Road for an amount not to exceed $100,000 in construction cost.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the Council of Columbus, Georgia, held the _________ day of _____________ and adopted at said meeting by the affirmative vote of _____________ members of said Council.
