A Resolution Authorizing ___THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR AND IF AWARDED ACCEPT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF \n \n $50,000 FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION GATEWAY GRANT PROGRAM. \n \n AND TO FURTHER AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO \n \n ACCEPT FUNDS TO INCLUDE A MOWING AND MAINTENANCE AGREEMENT._________ whereas, _The City, in partnership with the Gateway Foundation, Inc. has made numerous \n \n beautification improvements at major intersection in the community through \n \n landscaping projects and,______________
whereas, J.R. Allen Parkway at the Chattahoochee River extending east was planned for \n \n landscaping improvements in 2007 but the improvements were not realized due to \n \n state funding shortages and,___________
WHEREAS, The City desires to make certain landscaping improvements on the right \n \n of way of J.R. Allen between the Chattahoochee River and 2nd Avenue exit ramps \n \n and, \n \n WHEREAS, The City agrees to execute a Moving and Maintenance Agreement with the \n \n Georgia Department of Transportation to insure the project area is properly \n \n maintained following completion of the project.____________
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
_The City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for and if awarded accept funds \n \n in the amount of $50,000 from the Georgia Department of Transportation GATEway \n \n Program. And the City Manager is further authorized to execute all documents \n \n necessary to accept funds to include a Moving and Maintenance Agreement with \n \n the Department of Transportation for the project area._____________
