A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENTS WITH THE GEORGIA \n \n DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND THE NATIONAL INFANTRY FOUNDATION TO RECEIVE \n \n FEDERAL FUNDING FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NATIONAL INFANTRY MUSEUM FOR A SUM \n \n NOT TO EXCEED $5,400,000. whereas, the National Infantry Foundation has been awarded a federal grant in the amount \n \n of $5,400,000 for the development of the National Infantry Museum and will \n \n match the grant with $1,350,000 of its own funds; and,
whereas, the City will be required by the Georgia Department of Transportation to \n \n administer the grant funds on behalf of the National Infantry Foundation; and, \n \n WHEREAS, the City will require that all federal and state regulations \n \n governing the use of these federal funds be adhered to by the National Infantry \n \n Foundation; and, \n \n WHEREAS, Memorandums of Agreement for both the Georgia Department of \n \n Transportation and the National Infantry Foundation, have been developed \n \n outlining the duties and responsibilities of all parties in receiving these \n \n funds.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to: \n \n 1. Enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Georgia Department of \n \n Transportation to administer the federal grant for the National Infantry \n \n Foundation in the amount not to exceed $5,400,000 for the development of the \n \n National Infantry Museum \n \n 2. Enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Infantry \n \n Foundation and the disbursement of these federal funds for the development of \n \n the National Infantry Museum, for a sum not to exceed $5,400,000.
