A Resolution Authorizing TO ACCEPT FUNDING FROM THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FY 2006 \n \n AND 2007 TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT FUNDS FOR THE RESTORATION AND PRESERVATION \n \n OF THE COLUMBUS DEPOT, AUTHORIZE TO AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY ALIKE \n \n AMOUNT AND AUTHORIZE TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE \n \n GREATER COLUMBUS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. TO ESTABLISH THE PROCEDURES AND \n \n EXPECTATIONS OF THIS GRANT. whereas, the Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded the Greater Columbus \n \n Chamber of Commerce, through its sponsor the Columbus Consolidated Government, \n \n a Transportation Enhancement grant (P.I. No. 0008183, Project No. \n \n TEE-0008-00(183), for $200,000; and,
whereas, the grant shall be used to restore and preserve the historic Columbus Depot \n \n for public use and for the Chamber's offices; and, \n \n WHEREAS, the grant requires a 20% match, which shall be provided by the Greater \n \n Columbus Chamber of Commerce, for design services needed for the proposed \n \n improvements in the amount not to exceed $50,000, prior to the expenditure of \n \n any grant funds for this project; and, \n \n WHEREAS, authorization is needed to amend the multi-governmental fund by the \n \n amount of the grant and the match of $50,000 from the Greater Columbus Chamber \n \n of Commerce; and, \n \n WHEREAS, authorization is needed for the City Manager to sign a Memorandum of \n \n Understanding with the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce, Incorporated.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to: \n \n 1. Accept Transportation Enhancement Grant (P.I. No. 0008183, Project No. \n \n TEE-0008-00(183) funding from the Georgia Department of Transportation in the \n \n amount of $200,000, along with the required 20% match from the Greater Columbus \n \n Chamber of Commerce, which shall not exceed $50,000 and shall be paid prior to \n \n the expenditure of the $200,000, grant; and, \n \n 2. Amend the multi-governmental fund by the amount of $200,000 for the \n \n Transportation Enhancement Grant, and $50,000 for the required match; and, \n \n 3. Execute a Memorandum of Understanding with the Greater Columbus Chamber of \n \n Commerce that establishes the procedures and expectations of this grant.
