A Resolution Authorizing APPROVAL TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND IF APPROVED ACCEPT THE EDWARD BRYNE \n \n JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $73,519; CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING FOR \n \n PUBLIC COMMENTS ON THE PROJECTS SUBMITTED FOR THE PROJECTS SUBMITTED FOR THE \n \n GRANT ALLOCATION AND AMEND THE MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY THE AMOUNT OF THE \n \n GRANT. whereas, the Edward Bryne Justice Assistance Grant is the replacement for the Local Law \n \n Enforcement Grant. This grant has slightly different requirements impacted the \n \n type of expenditures that could be purchased with this grant. Secondly, this \n \n grant does not require a local match. Eligible projects for this grant had to \n \n fall in the following categories: Law Enforcement, Prosecution and Court, \n \n Prevention and Education, Correction and Community Correction, Drug Treatment, \n \n and Planning, Evaluation and Technology Improvement Programs,and;
whereas, a period of public comment must be made available for general comments on the \n \n grant allocation before it is submitted to the Bureau of Justice and the \n \n allocation is as follows: Police Department $48,257; Sheriff Department \n \n $14,412, Finance $850 and Drug Court $10,000.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to submit an application and \n \n if approved accept the Edward Bryne Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of \n \n $73,519; conduct a public hearing for public comments on the projects submitted \n \n for the grant allocation and amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by the amount of \n \n the grant.
