A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PROJECT AGREEMENT WITH THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF \n \n TRANSPORTATION FOR THE ADVANCED TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROLLER DEPLOYMENT IN THE \n \n AMOUNT OF $477,476; AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF THE NECESSARY \n \n EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY'S PROCUREMENT ORDINANCE, TO \n \n ACCOMPLISH SAID PROJECT. whereas, the Georgia Department of Transportation has developed standards/specifications \n \n for a 2070 signal controller with cabinet to be used Statewide offering local \n \n governments assistance in deploying said equipment on a Statewide basis; and,
whereas, Columbus Traffic Engineering Division has adopted said equipment standards \n \n already deploying 2070 signal controllers with cabinets on City projects; and,
WHEREAS, the implementation of 50 signal controllers with cabinets along state \n \n routes would save the City hundreds of thousands of dollars; and, \n \n WHEREAS, Traffic Engineering crews will provide in kind participation by \n \n performing the signal controller conversions with the City being reimbursed for \n \n the purchase cost up to $477, 476 by the Georgia Department of Transportation.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a Project \n \n Agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation for the Advanced \n \n Traffic Signal Controller Deployment in the amount of $477,476; and authorized \n \n the purchase of the necessary equipment/materials, in accordance with the \n \n City?s procurement ordinance, to accomplish said project.
