A Resolution Authorizing THE CHANGING OF THE OFFICIAL STREET MAP AND TAX MAP OF THE CONSOLIDATED \n \n GOVERNMENT OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA BY OFFICIALLY CLOSING AND ABANDONING FALCON \n \n STREET ; BEGINNING AT ITS INTERSECTION WITH FAIRCHILD DRIVE AND EXTENDING \n \n EASTWARD A DISTANCE OF 128 FT. MORE OR LESS AS SHOWN ON THE PLAT FOR SECTION 5, \n \n LINCOLN HILLS SUBDIVISION; AUTHORIZING THE DISPOSAL OF THE SAID RIGHT OF WAY IN \n \n ACCORDANCE WITH APPLICABLE STATE LAW; RESERVING UTILITY EASEMENTS; AND FOR \n \n OTHER PURPOSES. whereas, Falcon Street was platted as a public street as part of Section 5, Lincoln \n \n Hills Subdivision in 1956,
whereas, the road was never extended and has not been used by the public and primarily \n \n serves the residence at 5622 Fairchild Drive,
WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering has determined this street segment is \n \n not critical to traffic flow in the area,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. \n \n The "Official Street Map , Consolidated Government of Columbus, Georgia" \n \n maintained in accordance with Section 18.1 of the Columbus Code and appropriate \n \n Tax Map are hereby amended by deleting the following property from said maps: \n \n "All that portion of Falcon Street, as shown on a plat for Section 5, \n \n Lincoln Hills dated October 5, 1956 prepared by Aldridge, Moon Russell & King \n \n and recorded in Plat Book 21 Folio 65. \n \n Together with and subject to covenants, easements, and restrictions of record. \n \n Said tract or parcel containing 0.177acres, more or less." \n \n \n \n SECTION II. \n \n That the Council finds that the segment of right of way described in Section I. \n \n above no longer serves a substantial public purpose. This abandonment is hereby \n \n declared to be in the best public interest. Accordingly, said segment is \n \n hereby declared abandoned and removed from the Official Street Map of Columbus, \n \n Georgia in accordance with O.C.G.A. Section 32-7-2(c) . The City Manager is \n \n authorized to transfer the property to the adjacent property owner in \n \n accordance with the provisions of O.C.G.A. Section 32-7-4 if determined its \n \n necessary and in the best interest of the Consolidated Government of Columbus, \n \n Georgia. \n \n SECTION III. \n \n All existing utility easements in the Street Segment shall be reserved. \n \n _________________________
