A Resolution Authorizing TO SUBMIT AND IF APPROVED ACCEPT AN EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL GRANT FROM THE BUREAU \n \n OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE, OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS, FOR $35,891 OR THE AMOUNT \n \n APPROVED BY THE GRANT IN WHICH A CASH MATCH OF $11,964 IS REQUIRED TO FUND THE \n \n COLUMBUS/MUSCOGEE COUNTY JUVENILE DRUG COURT AND TO AMEND THE \n \n MULTI-GOVERNMENTAL FUND BY THE LIKE AMOUNT. whereas, funds have been made available from the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of \n \n Justice Programs for the purpose of funding for the Juvenile Drug Court; and,
whereas, Columbus is eligible for $35,891 to fund this program for one year; and,
WHEREAS, the Juvenile Drug Court operates on a team concept, but also, as a \n \n community collaborative effort to address the needs of youth abusing drugs; and, \n \n WHEREAS, the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Office of Justice Programs, requires \n \n a cash match of $11, 964 which will be provided from the general fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to : \n \n 1. Submit and if approved accept a grant from the Bureau of Justice Programs \n \n for $35,891 or the amount approved by the grant to fund a Columbus/Muscogee \n \n County Juvenile Drug Court; and, \n \n 2. Amend the Multi-Governmental Fund by a like amount; and, \n \n 3. Approve the cash match of $11,963 be transferred from the General Fund to \n \n the Multi-Governmental fund.
