A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF \n \n TRANSPORTATION TO RECEIVE TRANSPORTATION SPECIAL PURPOSE LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX \n \n FUNDS FOR THE US 27/CUSTER ROAD INTERCHANGE RECONSTRUCTION/MODIFICATION AT FORT \n \n BENNING whereas, on July 31, 2012, the citizens of the River Valley Special District under the \n \n Transportation Investment Act (TIA) of 2010, approved by referendum a \n \n Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) to fund \n \n transportation needs in the sixteen county region, which includes Columbus; \n \n and,
whereas, eight transportation projects were approved, including $20,000,000 for the \n \n reconstruction/modification of the US 27/Custer Road Interchange at Fort \n \n Benning; and,
WHEREAS, funding for these projects will be 100 percent from the collection of \n \n these TSPLOST funds and will not require a local match for the city;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a contractual \n \n agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation to receive funds in the \n \n amount of $20,000,000 for the activities associated with the \n \n reconstruction/modification of the US 27/Custer Road Interchange at Fort \n \n Benning . Within the limits of this budget, the City Manager shall also have \n \n the authority to enter into contractual agreements for the implementation and \n \n completion of this project. No local match shall be required to receive these \n \n funds.
