A Resolution Authorizing AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ALLOW TENANTS LOCATED ON PROPERTY PURCHASED BY \n \n THE CITY OF COLUMBUS THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY OWNED BY CLYDE WRENN TO REMAIN ON THE \n \n PREMISES FOR A PERIOD OF ONE YEAR WITH RENT WAIVED IN LIEU OF RELOCATION. whereas, there is historical precedent of rent being waived in lieu of relocation that \n \n was processed as an administrative action; and,
whereas, this action will allow three businesses and a church to search for a new \n \n location, utilize the waived rent to pay security deposits and first and last \n \n months rent; and,
WHEREAS, it is anticipated this action will assist these small businesses to \n \n remain in business and continue to serve the community; and, \n \n WHEREAS, the terms of the agreement in exchange for waived rent, provides that \n \n the tenants will pay all maintenance required on the existing building, keep \n \n the grounds clean, provide an insurance policy covering liability, and vacate \n \n the building after the lease period.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a Lease \n \n Agreement for waiver of rent in lieu of relocation with the tenants on the \n \n property formerly owned by Clyde Wrenn on South Lumpkin Road; and, \n \n That the tenants will assume all responsibility for payment of any and \n \n all maintenance required on the existing building; keep the grounds clean, \n \n provide an insurance policy covering liability, and vacate the building after \n \n the lease period.
