A Resolution Authorizing THE EXECUTION OF A BUILDING AND ROOFTOP LEASE AGREEMENT WITH VERIZON WIRELESS \n \n OF THE EAST LP, FOR THE PURPOSE OF INSTALLING, OPERATING AND MAINTAINING A \n \n TELECOMMUNICATIONS FACILITY AT THE CITY?S RIVER CENTER PARKING DECK LOCATED AT \n \n 919 BROADWAY IN COLUMBUS. whereas, Verizon Wireless of the East LP (Verizon) desires to lease ground, rooftop, and \n \n antenna space at the River Center Parking Deck, which is located at 919 \n \n Broadway; and
whereas, Verizon intends to lease the space at the parking deck for the purpose of \n \n installing, operating and maintaining wireless telecommunications equipment; \n \n and
WHEREAS, the initial lease term shall be for five years, with Verizon having \n \n the option to renew the lease for four additional five-year terms, for a \n \n possible lease duration of twenty-five years; and \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, Verizon proposes to make annual payments of $21,600.00 to the \n \n Columbus Consolidated Government during the initial five-year lease term; and \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, Verizon?s annual lease payment for each subsequent five-year \n \n term shall increase by fifteen percent (15%) over the previous term?s rental \n \n amount; and \n \n \n \n WHEREAS, the Building and Rooftop Lease Agreement has been reviewed by \n \n the City Attorney?s office, Finance Department, Metra, and the Engineering \n \n Department with a recommendation to approve.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager is authorized to execute the Building and Rooftop Lease \n \n Agreement with Verizon Wireless of the East LP, for the purpose of installing, \n \n operating, and maintaining a telecommunications facility at the City?s River \n \n Center Parking Deck located at 919 Broadway.
