A Resolution Authorizing THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A JOINT PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH WOODMONT \n \n PROPERTIES, LLC, AN ADJACENT PROPERTY OWNER FOR THE ACQUISITION OF 3601 \n \n GINGER DRIVE AKA TAX MAP 072 009 001, CONTAINING 12.874 ACRES +/-, TO ALLOW THE \n \n CITY TO COMPLETE A SEWER PROJECT ON EFFINGHAM WAY AND GINGER DRIVE IN COLUMBUS, \n \n MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GEORGIA. whereas, a portion of Ginger drive (adjacent to Effingham Way) has been washed away and \n \n a danger to the citizens of Columbus, and;
whereas, the adjacent property owner Woodmont Properties, LLC, has committed to pay \n \n $250,000 of the purchase price in exchange for all property remaining after the \n \n completion of the project, and; \n \n WHEREAS, the joint purchase agreement is contingent upon the property being \n \n rezoned RMF 2 for apartments, and;
WHEREAS, the adjacent property owner will pay $250,000 and the City will pay \n \n $350,000, (paid from the Real Estate CIP account) for a total purchase price of \n \n $600,000, and; \n \n WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to purchase the property for \n \n the completion this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to: \n \n 1. Enter into a joint purchase agreement with an adjacent property owner, \n \n Woodmont Properties, LLC, allowing the City to complete a sewer project on \n \n Effingham Way and Ginger Drive aka tax map 072 009 001; and, \n \n 2. Accept payment in the amount of $250,000 from Woodmont Properties, LLC, the \n \n adjacent property owner for the purchase of all property remaining from the \n \n 12.874 acres +/- after completion of the project. The remaining property will \n \n be transferred by Quit Claim Deed from the City to Woodmont Properties, LLC, \n \n within 30 days of completion of the Effingham Project; and, \n \n 3. Initiate the rezoning of the property to RMF2; and, \n \n 4. Render payment of $350,000 of the purchase price from the Real Estate CIP \n \n account.
