Subject: 2028 Comprehensive Plan - Draft Community Assessment
At the November 27 Council worksession meeting, the Planning Department will
present an update on the current efforts to develop a new comprehensive plan
for the community. Part of this effort will be to present the Community
Assessment report, which is the first step in this process. The Community
Assessment reviews the current status of the city on major issues such as
transportation, housing, and economic conditions, and establishes a baseline
for developing the new comprehensive plan. In order to meet the requirements
of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA), the presentation is
required to be held as a public hearing. Citizens will be encouraged to come
and make general comments about the report, which will then be incorporated and
sent to DCA for their review.
A copy of the report is attached for Council's review. This document is also
available on the Planning Department's web site at www.columbusga.com/mpo.
