Subject: On February 21, 2012 Donald R. Jones and Carson Cummings submitted a Special
Exception Use application to allow for the operation of an auto sales
dealership on less than 2 acres. The property is located in a GC (General
Commercial)/NC (Neighborhood Commercial) zoning district. The site for the
proposed dealership is approximately 1.63 acres. Auto/Truck sales, new and
used, in excess of two (2) acres are allowed in GC zoning district. In the
other hand, Auto/Truck sales, new and used, in excess of one-half (1/2) acre
but less than two (2) acres, shall be located as a special exception use as
provided in Section 3.1.1 of the Unified Development Ordinance. The applicant
is applying for rezoning along with this special exception to place the whole
property under GC zoning district.
Attached is a land use map showing the location of the property along with the
proposed site plans. The Planning Department has included the request on
Council?s May 22nd agenda. A staff report has been sent to the Clerk of
Council.
