The Planning Department will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, April 22, 2008

at Baker Middle School?s Cafeteria located at 1215 Benning Drive. The meeting

will be held for citizens to review and discuss the proposed Victory Drive

Overlay District that will affect Victory Drive (from the Chattahoochee River,

east to I-185), South Lumpkin Road, and Fort Benning Road (west of Victory

Drive). The meeting will be held for citizens to review and discuss the

proposed Victory Drive Overlay District. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m.



The Planning Department and the Victory Drive Overlay Committee have worked on

an overlay district for Victory Drive, South Lumpkin Road, and Fort Benning

Road for over a year. The committee consisted of residents, property owners,

Fort Benning, Columbus South board members, and real estate entities. The

overlay district draft ordinance addresses the following topics:



Design Requirements/Access such as:

Transportation/infrastructure (vehicular access to the site, private

roadway/driveways, interparcel access, medians, sidewalks, and pedestrian

access)

Retail Developments

Utility Location

Landscaping Requirements

Signage

Building Placement, Height and Intensity

Provision for Specific Uses

Gas Station Pump Islands

Outside Display, Storage, and Service Areas

Stormwater Detention Facilities

Architecture
