The Columbus Consolidated Government was awarded the Georgia Association of

Water Professionals' Phase I Stormwater Program of the Year for 2008. Phase I

Communities are those communities with a population greater than 100,000.

This award was given, and CCG's accomplishments in the areas of: Public

Information/Involvement, Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination,

Construction Site Management, Post-Construction Stormwater Management and Good

Housekeeping for Municipal Operations were presented to those in attendance at

GAWP's Annual Stormwater and Watershed Management Conference in Atlanta on May

20th.

Departments within CCG specifically mentioned in the award package included:

Engineering, Public Services and Keep Columbus Beautiful. Projects specifically

mentioned in the award package included the Effingham Way Drainage Improvements

and the Weracoba Creek Project at 19th Avenue. CCG also received this award in

2006.
