Subject: 9th Street Rail Crossing/Veterans Parkway

The 9th Street Railroad Crossing on Veterans Parkway will be upgraded the
weekend of September 12-14. This will force the road to be closed during that
period. The project is a cooperative effort between the City and Norfolk
Southern to upgrade crossings throughout the City . The City's variable
message sign will be placed along Veterans Parkway giving notice of impending
temporary closure. The Department of Engineering is coordinating with the
GADOT to establish a detour during the closure period.
The Department of Engineering is continuing to work with Norfolk Southern to
establish timelines to upgrade other crossings on 9th Street so that the street
can be milled and resurfaced as part of the project approved by Council.
