Subject: Air Quality Status
The Environmental Protection Agency *(EPA) has notified our office that it
expect the Columbus area to exceed the Particulate Matter (PM2.5) standards for
2006 (please see attached file). The letter identifies three options the EPA
could take to address this problem. The preferred one, which staff has been
working towards, is to develop a strategy that would bring the area back into
attainment. The letter identifies this effort, and encourages us to continue
seeking ways to address this need.
In the coming months, staff will bring forward a plan of action that will
include elected officials and citizens throughout the region.
