Subject: Controlled Burn in Muscogee Technology Park

No attachments for this document.

The Development Authority is conducting a controlled burn of approximately 100

acres of land in the Muscogee Technology Park during the next two weeks. The

burn is being coordinated with the State Forestry Department as directed by the

Fish and Wildlife Division of the Department of Interior. The control burn is

a condition of the land swap deal to clear underbrush and provide habitat for

endangered species. A controlled burn is required every three years under the

land swap agreement. However, this process has been ongoing for the past 12

years.

Every effort will be made to coordinate the burn when weather conditions would

limit the possibility of excessive smoke extending into populated areas. Fort

Benning is also conducting controlled burns on a regular basis and recent smoke

reported in populated areas can be attributed to the burning conducted on Post.
