Subject: Full Detail Study - Lindsey Creek East Branch
No attachments for this document.
Michael Baker Jr. Inc. the Federal Emergency Management Agency's National
Service Provider, has reviewed the Full Detail Study of Lindsey Creek's East
Branch and submitted it to them through Congressman Westmoreland's office.
After their initial review, Baker requested a few pieces of additional
information from PBS & J (our contractor) and from Columbus Consolidated
Government. We responded to their request within a day and have, as I
understand it, fully satisfied their data requirements. According to Sonal
Kulkarni with Baker, the Letter of Map Revision, which in this case will
correct the maps in the Windsor Park, Effingham Way and upper reaches of the
East Branch of Lindsey Creek to Tower Road, will be issued very soon as this
project is one of their top priorities.
Now that the Engineering and Review period is nearing completion, the next step
is notification. The first step in the notification process is the mailing of
the Letter of Map Revision. The Letter of Map Revision will be issued by FEMA
and mailed to PBS & J and CCG only. An initial Legal Notice will then be
published in the Ledger-Enquirer followed by a second Legal Notice being
published one week later. Both Legal Notices will have a website that citizens
can go to and read the Letter of Map Revision. Immediately after the second
publishing date, a 90-day comment period will begin. After the 90-day comment
period, if no "better data" is received, the Letter of Map Revision will be
effective or official, and new maps will be published.
On April 28, 2008 a letter was mailed from our office to approximately 170
affected property owners, informing them of our intent to revise the maps, the
fact that the Revised Maps (drafts) that accompanied the Letter of Map
Revision application are available for viewing at the Government Center Annex,
2nd Floor.
I will keep you all informed as this process continues. Should you have any
questions or comments, please call me at 706-225-3952.
