Subject: City Services Center Completion
No attachments for this document.
The new City Services Center will reach substantial completion this week. The
move in for Departments to be located in the new facility will begin on Friday
June 7, 2013. All Departments will be operational from the new City Services
Center on Monday June 10, 2013 with the exception of the Tax Commissioner's
Office. In an effort to maintain quality customer service, the Tax
Commissioner's Office is scheduled to move on June 25, 2013. This represents a
time when customer traffic is lighter and will result in less disruption to the
public. Coordination for this move has been underway for several months with
a goal to minimize inconvenience to the public. Public notices will be
distributed in the press advising of the new location for the office scheduled
to move.
The first Council meeting scheduled to be conducted in the new chambers at the
City Services Center will be on July 9, 2013. There will be several
orientation sessions scheduled in late June to familiarize elected and
appointed officials who routinely utilize the chambers for meetings with the
new technology and chamber operations. A schedule for the orientation
sessions will be distributed the next couple weeks.
The Columbus Aquatics Center will also be reaching substantial completion
within the next two weeks. The facility will be operational shortly
thereafter but delivery and installation of some of the competition technology
may be delayed. Parks and Recreation will be coordinating with U.S.A. Pools
on the opening of the new center to the public. Council will be advised as
soon as the opening date is set.
A grand opening event for both facilities is currently being planned and is
projected to be held in late July or early August. Council will be advised
once a firm date has been set.
