Subject: Notification on Miller Road Widening Project

The Planning Department, acting on behalf of the Columbus-Phenix City

Metropolitan Planning Organization, has received a letter from the Georgia

Department of Transportation (GDOT) that requests that the Miller Road widening

project be deleted from the Long Range Transportation Plan (see attached

letter). The Miller Road widening project, from Warm Springs Road to Macon

Road, is a project that is currently under review by a Citizens Advisory

Committee (CAC) that was established by GDOT itself. The CAC has been meeting

for the past year to help design this project, and was scheduled to meet at

least one more time prior to the design going to a public meeting.

The letter did not state a particular reason for this request. My office has

requested additional information as to the reasoning for this request from GDOT

before the procedure to remove this project. A copy of this letter is also

attached.
