Subject: 2006 Georgia Legislative Session

"Quality People Providing Quality Service"

Good Morning,

This Monday, the 2006 Georgia General Assembly will convene in Atlanta. The

session will last no more than 40 legislative days, and should conclude by late

March or early April. Leaders are indicating that, like last year, they will

conclude prior to the 40 allowable days.

Given that the elected officials cannot raise campaign funds during the

legislative session, one would anticipate the 2006 session to be short and

without much legislation. So far, legislation is likely in the following

areas: eminent domain/ inverse condemnation, immigration, sexual predator

laws, and?energy needs.

The leadership of the General Assembly remains the same for the coming session

with the exception of Senator Bill Stephens stepping down as the Majority

Leader of the Senate in order to focus on his bid for the Office of the

Secretary of State. Senator Tommie Williams was elected by his peers to fill

the position of Majority Leader.

Since the conclusion of the 2005 session, study committees and full committees

met in preparation of the coming session. Notable meetings surrounded:

predatory lending/ car title loans, regulation of emerging communication

technologies, high risk health insurance pools, and shoring up natural gas

supplies.

We will email you each day with any newly introduced legislation which may be

of interest to you. Please review said legislation and let us know if you have

any questions or concerns. In addition, we will be sending out weekly

narrative reports and tracking sheets. Should there be any critical events, we
