SUBJECT: Acceptance of Detention Basin located in Third Addition to

Whitesville Walk



INITIATED BY: Engineering







Recommendation: Approve the acceptance of the deed to the Detention

Basin located in Third Addition to Whitesville Walk.



Background: The Detention Basin was constructed for Third Addition to

Whitesville Walk and is 1.11 Acres. The owner has maintained the pond since

construction for the period of at least two (2) years.



Analysis: A deed has been submitted conveying to the City of Columbus a

detention basin located in the Third Addition to Whitesville Walk. Description

of property is as follows: All that lot, tract and parcel of land situate,

lying and being in the State of Georgia, County of Muscogee and City of

Columbus, and being shown as "Detention Basin, 1.11 AC." on that certain map or

plat entitled "Third Addition to Whitesville Walk, Lying in Land Lots 62, & 70,

8th District, Columbus, Muscogee County, Georgia" prepared by Moon, Meeks,

Mason and Vinson, Inc., under date of February 23, 2011, a copy of same being

recorded in Plat Book 163, Folio 21, of the records in the Office of the Clerk

of Superior Court of Muscogee County Georgia.



Financial Considerations: The owner has maintained the basin since its

construction for the period of at least 2 years therefore the City will be

responsible for maintaining the Detention Basin, 1.11 Acres, located in Third

Addition to Whitesville Walk.



Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: The Public Works Department will be

responsible for maintaining the Detention Basin after acceptance by the City.



Legal Considerations: In accordance with Section 18-3 of the Columbus Code, all

dedicated right-of-ways must be accepted by Council.



Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the Resolution accepting a deed to the

Detention Basin, 1.11 Acres, located in Third Addition to Whitesville Walk.

















A RESOLUTION

NO. _____

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DEED TO THE DETENTION BASIN, 1.11

ACRES, LOCATED IN THIRD ADDITION TO WHITESVILLE WALK ON BEHALF OF COLUMBUS,

GEORGIA.

WHEREAS, Columbus, Georgia has been submitted a deed conveying the Detention

Basin, 1.11 Acres, located in Third Addition to Whiteville Walk, a full

description of said property being shown in said deed; and,

WHEREAS, said Detention Basin has been completed and maintained by the owner

since construction for a period of at least 2 years and meets the required

specifications; and,

WHEREAS, the Engineering Department has inspected said Detention Basin and

recommends acceptance of same.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY

RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That certain deed dated the 30th day of April, 2014, conveying to

Columbus, Georgia, all of the Detention Basin, 1.11 Acres, located in Third

Addition to Whitesville Walk, be and the same is hereby accepted. The Clerk of

Council is hereby authorized to have said deed recorded in the deed records in

the Office of The Superior Court of Muscogee County, Georgia. A copy of said

deed is hereto attached and by this reference made a part of this Resolution.
