Subject Farr Road Traffic
Description Have the staff to look into the traffic on Farr Road. The
residents of Farrfield Manor, a retirement community, have to negotiate the
traffic in an effort to cross the street because of the curves. The oncoming
cars are not visible to the people attempting to maneuver this roadway.

Response Traffic Engineering collected traffic data for Farr Rd near the
Farrfield Manor finding that a little over 11,000 vehicles per day travel this
roadway. The speed limit for Farr Rd is 25 MPH from St Mary's Rd to 500 feet
south of Ford Dr. The speed limit is 35 MPH from this point south to Old
Cusseta Rd. Our speed study found that the 85th Percentile (design) speed for
this section of roadway is 46.5 MPH. Creating a pedestrian croswalk across
Farr Rd at Farrfield Manor does not appear to be a safe solution for the
pedestrian who would then have to cross back across Farr Rd. at St Mary's Rd to
access shopping. Traffic Engineering is recommending constructing a sidewalk
along the west side of Farr Rd. Traffic Engineering is developing a
construction cost estimate to determine if funds are available for a sidewalk
project.
